Mr. Penner was recently the high school gym and health teacher at our school, Steinbach Christian School. Unfortunately, he no longer works here, and we as students have something to say about him, and how he has impacted our lives as a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend.
Being a student of the school for seven years, I have witnessed the impact Mr. Penner has made on my friends, classmates, and the school as a whole.
Mr. Penner has been a big encouragement to many students throughout his time at SCS, and has impacted us in a positive way, not only in sports but on a relational level.
As students, parents, coaches, mentees, and friends, we hope that you would reconsider Mr. Penner's re-employment at SCS.

Mr. Penner always had my back on and off the court. Always encouraging me to become better at my sport and to be better in life. The ironic thing is, this world needs more teachers like Mr Penner, not less of them. Mr. Penner has earned the respect of hundreds of students, and parents alike and it’s a shame to see that thrown away.
I dont know the reason Mr. Penner no longer is at SCS. I just wanted to say he has mentored me as a coach and has taught me a great deal on how to conect with students. I will always be grateful for all his time and commitment spent making things exciting for his coaches and students. He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
Mr Penner was my favourite teacher when I was at SCS! He’s always more than willing to help students improve their skills, and always encouraging students to act with character and do their best! He made my high school experience as an athlete the best!
Mr. Penner always took time to make sure I was personally ok before I was participating in sports or in gym class. He cares about individuals more than the sport. Sure he gets worked up sometimes but so do a lot of others.

I hope your petition is received with an open mind and heart. I admire you for taking a stand and making the time to recognize that Mr. Penner is respected and needed by those whose lives he touches. Mr Penner coached my son and daughter in vBall and/or bBall from grade 7-12 (directly or indirectly) AND I had the opportunity to coach with him in basketball. I appreciated it when he recognized he’d made a mistake he’d apologize to me BUT ALSO to the students, setting a great example of humility. His heart investment and hours, hours and more hours of personal time to help each student be their best hasn’t ever been fully recognized. Mr Penner, the students have seen your heart, thanks for investing into their lives as if they were your own children!!
