We, the residents of Merafong Local Municipality, hereby petition the municipality to resolve the situation of frequent and unscheduled power outages.
Loadshedding is already causing tremendous damage to our daily lives and businesses, but the frequent outages are causing millions in losses to local businesses and preventing residents from living ordinary lives.
As citizens we can understand that no infrastructure on earth is perfect, however as time progressed these power cuts have become all the more frequent, and the restore times are becoming longer and longer.
There is a lack of maintenance of electrical infrastructure, the municipality is not securing substations or curbing cable theft, and in many areas the infrastructure is decades old and cannot support growing demand.
We hereby petition the municipality and the MEC for COGTA in Gauteng to intervene and ensure stable power supply in our municipality.

Life cannot continue in this manner. No lights. No infra structure, no service delivery- but residents must pay!! For what??? Power outages are prolonged. Cables stolen because people need money. Syndicates are winning the plot. Residents deserve better. Merafong needs to flourish again
