monuments/statues etc. are reminders of tragedies and triumphs. They need to stand to remind us where we've been and where we need to advance to.

I grew up in Huntsville and all of the statues, historical plaques, markers are a part of the history of Huntsville. Knowledge of our history is so important to have and learn from. If there is a proposition to have any of these removed, there has to be a vote from the citizens of Huntsville

These statues need to stay to remind us of progress. Sam Houston was not a racist. If they acrually food some research they would see that he was a good man.

Would it be possible to start a fundraiser to support our historic landmarks? Could we ask the Daughters if the Texas Revolution or some other group to support these landmarks? Our cause would be much more noble and ideal if it were funded voluntarily rather than through tax dollars. Donations would be a much better way to keep these landmarks alive. Taxation may be the wrong way to support our history.

Please leave our history alone. It won’t change our history to rid us of these statues but letting them remain in society be you Democrat or Republican; lawbreaker or respecter of history, as a means with hope to not re-write it or repeat it!
