Help change Virginia laws for modified vehicles.

In the past 10 years many things have been done with cars, trucks and motorcycles to make them look very unigue. Such things as lowering a vehicles height, putting after market wheels, changing the exhaust system and maybe even modifying the engine have become very popular to the automotive enthusiast. Unfortunately, Virgina laws do not allow such minor alterations to any vehicle. It states that no other parts shall be installed, meaning vehicle should remain stock. It needs to be known that this is a hobby to many and is in no way causing harm to others. Many states surrounding Virgina allow for such things. Altered suspension should not be illegal as long as the vehicle height does not exceed maximum and minimum requirements. After market exhaust should not be illegal as long as it is a properly functioning exhaust (according to VA state law)and does not produce excessive noise. This is a growing industry and can be very lucrative for area merchants who specialize in providing these parts for car enthusiasts. Many vehicles come stock with lowered suspension and performance exhaust. (ie. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and many others...) Drivers of import vehicles and mini trucks seem to be a target of law enforcement agencies when seen with the very same modifications as some of the above mentioned factory vehicles. Please help and sign this petition to support the change in Virginia Laws for modifications to exhaust and a vehicle suspension. We do believe such laws should exist, but they need to apply to all vehicles and should be specific, not to just say the vehicle should remain \"stock\". There are more important violations to be enforced than these petty vehicle modifications. Not everyone that modifies their vehicle is doing so to participate in illegal activities. Thank you for your support.
