By signing this petition you agree that virginia speed limits of 55, 60, or even 65mph on major highways, freeways and interstates are set too low. Across the U.S. Highways and freeways have an avg. speed of 70 to 75mph. This speed works well for almost every other state. Unfortunatly the Commonwealth of Virginia for years has relied on the income from traffic violators. Laws are created to cause more violations which in turn gives the state more revenue. Over 75% of our police force is devoted to catching traffic violators. Now with the new laws, putting even more of a burden on VA drivers and VA drivers only, Virginia is going in the wrong direction. It is time Virginia changed the speed limits on its major highways. This petition was created to get enough signatures to show the state that Virginians are sick of the money hungry highways and want a change!
Seeing this kind of movement confirms that people are finally fed up with these traps. It has been a long and exhausting process but knowing others see the truth keeps me going.

Speed limits are entirely too low, set at that speed for the purpose of generating revenue through traffic citations and in actuality do nothing to protect the citizens.

Bout time someone did something. Driving through VA is a nightmare and you get pulled over for going the exact same speed as everyone else on the road RIDICULOUS.
