Please Auckland Council and Auckland Transport, add traffic calming measures to the 'Bird' streets in Pt Chevalier before someone gets killed (and perhaps even the other side streets in our suburb, too).

The feedback from our neighborhood continues to paint a picture of constant anxiety every time we try to cross the road. I am working behind the scenes to get a direct meeting with the council to present these stories as proof that we need safety changes now. It is a slow and draining process but backing down is not an option.

Seeing this much momentum behind our plea for safer streets offers a heavy but necessary sense of relief. The road ahead remains draining and uncertain but knowing I am not fighting this battle alone provides enough fuel to keep pushing forward.

I live on Moa and this road is like a racetrack for cars cutting through. The intersection on Moa/Tui gets regular accidents and it's only a matter of time someone is seriously hurt. So many children use these roads and crossings to get to the 3 nearby schools
A few months ago a speeding car crashed into my front fence in Kiwi Road. It also demolished the boundary fence between my neighbour’s property and mine. This has caused us much upset and some expense over a period of months.
They need to look into Buxton St too since the council allowed the new daycare to have twice the occupancy levels that is normally allowed under current regulations. Potentially another 85 car movements at the beginning and end of each day.
Living on Moa rd has become like having front row seats to the speedway. Added to the degree of speed is in the quantity of traffic cutting between Great North Rd and Meola. Having police make an appearance in the 'birds' would also be another speeding deterant .
I live at 98 Huia Road and regularly observe and hear cars driving extremely fast down our street. I'm often up feeding my newborn during the early hours and heard one car drive in excess of 100km recently at 2am - this needs to stop.

The speed of traffic on my road (Wakatipu Street) is a major issue for residents. I fear for the safety of kids in the area crossing the roads. There are also frequent accidents occurring at the intersections, where speed is often a factor.
