I am looking to get some traffic calming measures on Westfield Avenue, Royd Moor Road, Folly Lane, Work bank lane, Ingbirchworth, Towngate, in the form of speed reductions of 20 Mph and sleeping policeman. As a parent, I am sick and tired of speeding traffic in this area with no regard to public safety.

There have been quite a few near misses around the school site at heavy traffic times. When they finally resurface the badly neglected roads, drivers will be going even faster and an accident is inevitable.
Thurlstone as a whole is in drastic need of traffic calming and sensible parking control restriction. School drop off and pick up times in particular are complete chaos.
As a child that lives on the street i am not very happy with the amount of cars that speed down the street, like an accident the other day which left a cat dead due to a speeding car and the owner was devastated. Also since most of us have small gardens to ride bikes in we ride them round the block and now its becoming to dangerous to do so also since there is a park nearby there are plenty of kids round the area and is really not safe and there will be an accident!
Definitely something should be done cars parked all up the road at school times. I have 3 children the youngest is in a pushchair some home times I have to step into the road to see if it's safe to cross to peer around the parked cars. It's so dangerous with cars going way too fast for the road. Someone is going to have a accident.
Something needs to change as the roads are full of parked cars. Children cross the roads between the cars and you can only see what’s coming by stepping into the road. People drive so fast that by the time they see you it’s too late. I live in towngate and have to cross 3 roads to get to school. It’s a small village and blind corners.
OH, and I am from Thurlstone, not OXFORD, and do not know why this is coming up
I know I have set a target of 500 for this, but I feel it is not going to be worth much if I hand this in with less than 100 signatures, so I would appreciate it if everyone could spread the word a little more. There is no rules with regards to getting siblings to sign this, so if a parent has signed this get your partner and siblings to do the same. This petition would hold more weight if a child was to sign, as its the children we are trying to protect at the end of the day. I am not saying adults do not matter, but if like me, I put my daughter before myself, so lets get this moving again in the right direction. Thanks, Dean
