This is a petition in relation to the proposed charges that the R.C.T Council plan to introduce on ALL sports teams using their parks from next season. Importantly, this will include charges to the many childrens teams that currently run within the R.C.T.
If the proposed charges are introduced, it will SPELL THE END of many of the sports clubs actively using the R.C.T pitches. Clubs will simply not be able to run following the introduction of the proposed charges.
This will have a massively detrimental impact on the society as a whole, and could have a serious impact on the steps our children choose to take going into their teenage years. What will they do when they can no longer actively take part in community sport? What health impacts will this have on adults and children alike? Is this the fairest way the R.C.T Council can try to bridge the budget gap?
Please throw your support behind this petition and help raise awareness of the R.C.T Council's plans to introduce charges that will lead to the DEATH OF SPORT IN OUR COMMUNITY. Thank you

Watching these numbers climb reminds me of the countless weekends my own kids spent on these pitches. We need to reach two hundred and fifty signatures before the council session to force them to look at what they are taking away from our families.

Watching the count approach 100 signatures reminds me of the countless weekends my own son spent playing on these fields. We have to keep this momentum going so the council realizes they cannot simply tax our children out of the game.

As a player in the Aberdare Valley Football League, I think I speak for many when I say the conditions are poor enough already. I understand it's a double-edged sword (no money = poor conditions > more money better conditions), but how about making improvements first so we can see where our money actually goes??
Once again rct council just steam roll into cuts that affect the children of the Cynon valley.Theres probably others areas where they can cut.when is this going to stop?first the school's now their attach the kids leisure facility's
I've worked hard to get two under 11's teams up and running this year!! I give up my time for the kids!! But RCT want to take all that away. There's a big fuss about child obesity yet you take away all the sports around here we will never beat it!!
Disgraceful false economy this short term proposed policy by RCT will if children in RCT are denied sports activities will, create a legacy of obesity, ill health, anti social behaviour that in the long term will cost the country millions of pounds to address !
i have myself reminded the council of past agreements when we axcepted to take the keys and do the work of groundsmen/attendants saving them thousands and at that time gave agarantee there ould be no fees in the future
art and sport make a community fluorish we already seen cats in music education, please sport is not an additional activity it is an essential activityfor growing up strong in body and healthy in mind
Council's compalin that parents should ensure their children are not 'hanging around on street corners' and when local communicites/clubs make the effort to encourage children to become involved insport they propose charging them for the privilege - result no sports, children with nothing to do and the chance of other problems that also cost money. This is short sighted and something I woud make an election debatenissue.

RCT has produced many sporting successes with the likes of Rhys Thomas & Ian Evans in recent times with the likes of Garin Jenkins, Staff Jones before them. Don't stop the production line by stopping local sports which this petition is against. Keep signing people!
