Council's compalin that parents should ensure their children are not 'hanging around on street corners' and when local communicites/clubs make the effort to encourage children to become involved insport they propose charging them for the privilege - result no sports, children with nothing to do and the chance of other problems that also cost money. This is short sighted and something I woud make an election debatenissue.

Terrible decision by RCT. Please explain this crazy decision. I understand that budgets are being cut but to attack the fitness and well being of your constituents is ludicrous.

The council cutbacks are getting ridiculous now how about selling some of the mosques that are sprouting up everywhere this country is going to the dogs it really is

hard to believe these costs are being put in place, using sports fields should be free. services should be improved and investment needs to be put into these essential services. long term we will have overweight kids / adults and poor health in the area if services like this is not supported.

I agree cuts have to be made , however they need to be made elsewhere as this could have an impact on the long term social and physical health of future generations within RCT.

I represent Aberdare Cricket Club and the Aberdare Mid-Week Cricket League. The club runs 4 Adult sides on a saturday and 3 junior teams, the league have 8 adult teams who play midweek cricket. These proposed charges of £450 per team for Adults and £100 per team for Juniors will affect the clubs development as we already struggle to pay for equipment match balls umpires etc and these additional fees will have to be targeted at the playing members who will find it very difficult to find the extra money needed to cover these costs. Some of the teams that play in the cricket league have already advised me that they will drop out of the league and not play cricket again as they can't afford the charges proposed. We are struggling to keep cricket alive in the valley. Over the past 10 to 15 years we have seen a decline in the sport and have seen many local clubs fold. Aberaman Cricket Club, Aberdare Aces Cricket Club, and Hirwaun Cricket Club to name a few. Aberdare Cricket Club however have bucked this trend and we have been progressing in numbers over the past few years, however the 2014 seen a small decline in the number of members and younger players to the club and these extra charges can only mean that this decline will continue to happen as people havn't got the extra money that the club will require in order to commit to running these teams. We will be replying to RCT's letter with the view to asking for them to revisit their proposal and prevent these charges happening to the extent that they have proposed for 2015.

Eradicating child poverty! Obesity, lethargy, child criminality, X Box fixation, cartoons, can't converse with their peer, distrust of their elders, no respect for elders etc. What are the chances of today's kids being the misfits of tomorrow?

The Council has to make unpopular decisions due to Welsh Government funding cuts and if they don’t make the savings in this area, they will have to make it somewhere else. We don’t like it but we get it. But increasing fees to play sport is wrong in so many ways. The WG is pumping more money into the Welsh NHS as it can’t cope and by increasing the fees to play sports the knock on effect will be less participation in sport, leading to unhealthier population, leading to more pressure on the NHS. Also less kids in sport = possibly more antisocial behaviour and more pressure on police? RCT should be encouraging, not discouraging, nor making it impossible for people to get involved in sport, especially in the deprived valleys we live in! RCT… think of the bigger picture!

This will potentially have a detrimental effect not only grassroots sports but the wider effects on Health and Wellbeing off a community which already detrimentally affected for lack of investment over many years. There is very simple way to save a small fortune by each of the Council Members ploughing their allowances back into front line services but will they do the right thing, I fear not
