The following petition requests the following of the City of Corona and its representatives:
1. An immediate moratorium on all future new home development for a period of no less than five (5) years following the completion of all current home, freeway, and roadway construction currently in progress. This would include any homes in the planning stages such is those represented in the Skyline Heights project.
2. During this time and until the end of the five (5) year moritorium, Corona City would conduct a study, develop and present a report to its citizens that the current and immediate future infrastructure would be present to support any further development.
3. In addition, the City of Corona should provide it's citizens a well reasoned argument as to why new home development is necessary and beneficial to the current citizens within it's community.
This petition is for Corona, California residents.
The goal of this petition is NOT to ban all future home development, but to provide a moment of pause while we gain a genuine understanding of our current and immediate future situation with regard to traffic flow and infrastructural support.

The feedback I receive daily highlights a shared anxiety regarding how our local infrastructure will manage continued growth. Many of you have reached out with personal accounts of the daily traffic and strain on our resources that inform the necessity of this pause. These stories provide the essential context I intend to present when the time comes to engage city officials.

Reaching this level of support confirms that many of us feel the same urgency regarding the infrastructure of our city. This momentum suggests that our neighbors are ready for a thoughtful pause in development. I appreciate the time everyone has taken to consider the long-term future of our community.

Instead of more housing, we should be attempting to attract more businesses. This would generate revenue and provide the possibility of jobs closer to home for the thousands of commuters on our overburdened freeways.
We understand the City of Corona wants to generate revenue, and new home development is extremely lucrative. However, as a responsible city, it is your obligation to ensure the growth of new home development is acceptable with the current infrastructure. The apartment homes have multiplied over the last 2 years, needless to say, the traffic condition has worsen significantly. If the growth and development for our infrastructure are not increasing in a ratio that is acceptable to accommodate planned housing growth, then it would be criminal to ignore our request to pause housing development.
No more homes. We have enough for now. The new freeway expansion isn't even expected to be completed until 2017 and we don't even know what kind of impact that will do to the morning/evening commute.
We're on a stage 3 water shortage, yet more houses are being built, our high schools are overpacked with students and will be impacted more unless new schools are built and of course road construction is taking place throughout the whole city-please share your plans if you already have taken these points plus more into consideration.
I can't see how more homes can even be an option when traffic is as bad as it is. And where are all these new kids going to go to school? Please stop building on every plot of open land...what's left of the open space is one of the only things that makes it appealing.
When you allow corporations to enter a city and destroy housing, you should not allow more new home buildings. Our land is limited and the infrastructure is not up to date as it is. Adding new housing would hinder our already overtaxed systems.
We need more open space, not more homes.

The traffic is to the point that I am looking to move. More homes = more cars. Please wait until the freeway work is complete before letting more homes be built.
