To: The Riverside City Council Subject: Preserve Victoria Avenue—Oppose Overdevelopment

We, the undersigned residents and concerned community members, strongly oppose the proposed high-density housing development at the corner of La Sierra Avenue and Victoria Avenue. This project threatens to permanently alter one of Riverside’s most cherished landmarks, increasing traffic congestion, compromising public safety, and eroding neighborhood tranquility. With nearly 10 acres being subdivided into 49 homes and only a small fraction allocated for affordable housing, this development fails to offer meaningful benefits while creating lasting infrastructure burdens. It also contradicts the City of Riverside’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, disregarding environmental priorities and responsible growth.

Victoria Avenue has served as a historic green corridor for over a century, offering respite and natural beauty. Its preservation is essential to maintaining Riverside’s identity and ensuring future generations can enjoy its unique character. Increased development will accelerate urban sprawl and diminish the integrity of this treasured space. We urge the Riverside City Council to reject this proposal and seek alternatives that balance growth with preservation and sustainability.

I quite concerned with this proposal for so many reasons. We must let our elected officials and the planning department that chipping away at our history and zoning is not ok. Prop R zoning . Housing in Riverside is necessary but not everywhere. I have lived in Riverside all my life. Worked in many ways to preserve the green belt and our hills. Is this proposal compatible with Prop R? Who on the City Council is supporting this?

Victoria Ave is one of the few parts of Riverside that still looks like it did before urbanization. Please keep it this way. We don't need more housing tracks.

I lived on Somerset just off Victoria for twenty years. I cannot conceive of allowing this magnificent Ave. being altered by this poorly conceived project.

I have to protect my investment. I have invested $2 million in my home thinking that I lived in historic Riverside area. I will not agree with this de-escalation of my property value. This is so serious.
