To manage the impact of rapid growth on our community, we are petitioning to support Commissioner Hersey’s request for a six-month moratorium on new commercial and large residential developments (more than four units). Exemptions would apply to projects with final plat approval.

This temporary halt is essential to give the county time to properly plan for and implement the infrastructure required to support our population, such as roads, schools, and utilities while providing time to evaluate the current county comprehensive plan. It will also help alleviate the current workload on the Planning and Zoning department, which, as Commissioner Jeff Wooten noted on August 1st BOC Meeting (Agenda #16), is "so backed up" on inspections.

Stop developing right next to where our kids play! WE voted for YOU in hopes you would help protect THEM, not a gas station!

I support Billy Webster. I believe we need to take more time to figure out what impact a huge development would do to our schools, traffic patterns and economics, especially if 275 rental properties would be built and the landlords had a 20 tax abatement.

There doesnt seem to be any coherent plan for growth! We need to assess where we are today with overcrowed roads, schools and a lake that is getting dangerous to go on!

We are leaving Putnam County for these reasons: (1) too much growth. The laid back lifestyle we sought when we moved here 4 years ago is being replaced by growth that will turn the lake area into a metro-like community. (2) Piedmont Water. We shouldn’t have to pay too high rates for water AND have to install an in-house system to make sure our water is drinkable.

We've been here over 20 years and have witnessed the ridiculous increase in traffic over the years. With the additional planned housing, traffic will be unbearable, schools will be over loaded, and our beautiful way of life here will be unrecognizable.

Please pause development until a plan for infrastructure is developed. Right now buildings are put up , there’s no curb appeal, roads and schools will be overburdened with everything I’ve seen. Signage is awful. Our county is becoming ugly to drive through compared to Greene county up the street, and we pay a lot of money in taxes. Thank you! Elaine Brady

It should be a 12 or longer moratorium.

Let’s pause and think about the impact on citizens before making any decisions.
