Taconic Braves has a great history!!
My grandmother who is part of the West Stockbridge Indians never had a problem with Taconic Braves.
But she did have a problem when I came home from school and told her that Christopher Columbus discover America.
If you want Braves back as Taconic High School nickname.

As a graduate of Taconic I think it's rediculous that you want to change the name. The Braves are the warriors of the tribe. Naming the mascot "The Braves" is not disrespectful to the Taconic Native Americans it is honoring them.
Polling has taken place in recent memory (2004 Annenberg Public Policy Center, 2016 Washington Post polls) showing a majority of Native Americans feel tremendous pride seeing their ancestors fearlessness depicted across modern day iconography as the legends they truly are. Do not erase them from their landscape. E Pluribus Unum.
Class of ‘98! There’s a big difference between a slang name like “redskins” that are considered disrespectful and “braves” honoring history of local Indigenous/Native Americans. We should educate our kids to honor them and where the name came from!
Taconic High is named after the tribe that settled here. It's fitting to have a Brave as the mascot. Change the name of the school if you want to change the mascot!
Braves forever ! My parents graduated as Braves. Myself and husband graduated as Braves ! My Daughter class of 2019 graduated a Brave. I want my 10 year old son to be able to continue the legacy leave Taconic as the Braves please !

This has become a huge mess. I am part blackfoot indian and the braves should not bother anyone. What is the school committee and mayor Tyer afraid of. Think it's time someone should man up to stop this petty crap.
