Reaching 250 signatures feels like a small win in a very long fight. I am exhausted by the pushback but seeing this many names keeps me going.

The idea of changing our most beloved high school's name is ludicrous. Should this idea succeed I will be spending my money in other surrounding cities and counties. Cullman, Double Springs, Arley, even Decatur aren't that far away.

I am now a senior at Walker, and I believe us as students of the school that we should be able to voice our opinions about this change. I feel like no one is listening and anything that we do is not going to change their mind.

As a 1984 graduate of Walker High School, my son will graduate 2017, Walker is our history, we still live here, pay taxes here, it is still daily life. My youngest son 6th grade now, may not get to join in our history. Here is my question, WHY?

Walker High School has been a part of the community of Jasper for 100 years. Its name is a staple of the alumni and the good deeds and accolades that have been done in their name throughout the world. Don't change history because you need to rebrand.

I graduated from Walker. My brothers should be able to do the same. I many hours into the name Walker High School. Won many awards in the band as Walker High School. Wore Walker on my sleeve at the football games. Just because I'm the last graduating class of the old building should not mean I'm the last graduating class of Walker High School.

My parents and grandparents graduated from WALKER High School. Plus, could you imagine having to replace all the uniforms to say Jasper and all the Juniors and Seniors who have to get their rings replaced to say Jasper? That's a lot of money that would be wasted for no reason
