Petition to Restore the Name “Northern High School”
Alumni, community members, and supporters are petitioning to have the name Northern High School reinstated and visibly displayed on the current school building in addition to the current school(s) name. Northern High holds deep historical and emotional significance as a symbol of pride, resilience, and legacy in the community. Supporters emphasize that restoring the name is not about reversing progress, but about honoring the past and preserving its legacy for future generations. I am a proud alum of the class of 1974. The name change will garner support for the current student body from Northern alumni.
Didn't attend Northern, However it was my zone school and I knew plenty of people that did attend and I was neighbors of Legendary Northern Football Coach Ike Hempfield who their Football Field was named after. Give Northern it's name back
I support the renaming back to its original name. As a high school coach giving back to the community I would love to give back to my Alma mater. It’s a legacy thing and I would love to tell the kids about a school that exists. Please consider the renaming.
My daughter graduated from Northern high school,and I paid good money to buy her high school ring, as well as her diploma being from Northern high school. Not from a made up school were she didn't attend.
Northern has some many individuals who have done well over the years despite the bad reputation it may have. We deserve our name back because we are living proof that at one point we were Northern High the good the bad and the ugly those memories shall live on.

After you change the name of a school and you change school colors, do the alumni supposed to still have a connection to said school? Are school fundraiser's as impactful? Are homecoming games attended as much without a true legacy? It was a bad idea in my opinion to erase 40 years of history. Bring back Northern High School and there colors.
