THIS IS A FREE PETITION You are asked for a donation but as long as you see "your signature has been recorded" you are good, NO NEED TO DONATE!!!

Sign our petition to let the Fairfax County Public School Board (FCPS), the FCPS Superintendent, and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors know that there are many parents in our community who value and support the opportunity for our children to learn a second language. Elementary foreign language immersion and FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary School) programs are often the first to be “at risk” among many other important programs during tough budget times.

FCPS’s nationally-recognized schools make this county a special place to live and are a defining feature that attracts community members and businesses to Fairfax County. We believe it is critical to work to PRESERVE and EXPAND top-notch FCPS programs, not only for our children, but for the continued vitality of Fairfax County's economy and property values. If you are a parent, student, alumni or concerned community member living in or out of Fairfax County, please join us in our mission to keep FCPS one of the nation’s best school systems that will continue to offer innovative, global and progressive programs to benefit our students -- our future leaders.

The Japanese Immersion Program and all the language programs bring significant economic benefit to Fairfax County. The cancelation of the programs will hit the county hard when the families leave the area for other educational opportunities in the region.

As a parent of children who have gone through the immersion program, and another child who I hope will go through the immersion program, as well as an educator in FCPS, I see immense value for our children of the future to experience foreign language and culture as only offered through the immersion program!

We chose to live near by Fox Mill ES because the school has Japanese Immersion Program. If you are going to cut the program, we no longer have a reason to live in Fairfax County and pay expensive house cost and tax. Please do not eliminate the Japanese immersion program.

Our family moved from West coast to Fairfax county for Japanese Immersion!! Kids have been learning Japanese language and culture from native Japanese teachers. It is very important to teach our children to be an open minded people for our future!!

Fairfax county's language immersion program is a wonderful asset that makes our students stand out in the local, national and global marketplace. What's even better, the budget for the whole program is only $1M. This is a huge value for our tax dollars. Our language immersion program is an asset, not a luxury.

I'm a graduate of the Japanese Immersion Program (JIP) from Fairfax. I got a great experience and life-long friends from it. I hope they continue to foster this type of education, for bilingualism is a great adaptive tool for the future.

Early language learning is not just about becoming multi-lingual. It's about unlocking your child's potential to learn and excel.
