This petition is to support a variance that would allow the construction of two pavilions at Trixie's Bar in Hamtramck, Michigan.
WE THE
UNDERSIGNED support the request of Trixie’s Bar for a variance to Section IX –
2.02 of the Hamtramck Zoning Ordinance. A variance is necessary because strict
compliance with the setback requirements of this Ordinance would unreasonably
prevent the property owner from using the property for some lawful permitted
purpose and would render conformity unnecessarily burdensome in this particular
case. Moreover, a variance shall do substantial justice to both the property
owner and neighboring property owners in the district and a lesser requirement
would give substantial relief to the property owner and be more consistent with
justice to others. Because the plight of the property owner is due to unique
circumstances of the property and the problem of the property owner is not
self-created the only reasonable path forward is issuing a variance.

This bar help save my life, it has been one of the only safe places to accept new artists and spread creative ideas. It fight for the people who make Hamtramck special
Trixie's isn't just a friendly watering hole, it actively supports the arts. Now is the time to support small businesses. Losing Trixie's would be a tremendous detriment to the city of Hamtramck. Please grant them the necessary variance to continue to make Hamtramck the haven of young artists that it's become.
I live on Norwalk Street, also own 2 homes on Lumpkin. I signed this in support of Trixi’s. Allow the variance.
I love this bar and consider the owners family. Business needs have changed during the pandemic and outdoor seating at a bar is vital to its survival moving forward.
Modifications like this will help make the community more accessible to people with mobility issues (like me), long after the pandemic is gone.

I'm a Hamtramck resident and I firmly believe that the proposed variance would increase property values in the area, and add to the community's attractiveness. Trixie's is a well-maintained, welcoming business and this variance is necessary to their ability to stay open.
