I'm a Hamtramck resident and I firmly believe that the proposed variance would increase property values in the area, and add to the community's attractiveness. Trixie's is a well-maintained, welcoming business and this variance is necessary to their ability to stay open.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED support the request of Trixie’s Bar for a variance to Section IX – 2.02 of the Hamtramck Zoning Ordinance. A variance is necessary because strict compliance with the setback requirements of this Ordinance would unreasonably prevent the property owner from using the property for some lawful permitted purpose and would render conformity unnecessarily burdensome in this particular case. Moreover, a variance shall do substantial justice to both the property owner and neighboring property owners in the district and a lesser requirement would give substantial relief to the property owner and be more consistent with justice to others. Because the plight of the property owner is due to unique circumstances of the property and the problem of the property owner is not self-created the only reasonable path forward is issuing a variance.

I love trixes, the atmosphere here makes me feel like I’m amongst family. It’s one of my favorite bars in hamtramck, and I feel they deserve the opportunity to expand the patio for there business, it won’t only make the bar safe by adhering to social distancing- it will make loyal customers feel much more comfortable to go out and enjoy there local bar. Trixes brings in a great community of people, it’s a shame to impede on there expansions when it will beneficial for everyone.

Ordinances are meant to enhance, not destroy. So, please grant this variance and allow Trixie's to continue serving its community.

I live on Neibel Street in an upper right behind Trixies Bar. I am grateful the Perotta brothers have renovated and improved their bar. I can see directly into their side yard. It is always very well maintained. What once was a sad looking unused side lot has, with the brothers' considerable effort, turned into a valuable asset for the bar and its' patrons. Trixies is a welcome addition and has never bern a problem. Why woukd the city discourage ANY business owner improving their business? Makes zero sense and seems more like a personal vendetta than a sound municipal decision by Hamtramck. I support the application the Perottas are seeking. I welcome ANY improvement our neighbors want to do. How can more customers spending more money in Hamtramck ever be a bad thing?

Is somebody who's worked at previously at a bar and somebody that works as a entertainer Phineas like this should be given leeway on zoning ordinance in an unprecedented time.

Trixie's is a valuable hub for live music and eclectic performance in Hamtramck. For this reason, any addition to their property that would help them better and more safely operate during the pandemic should be considered a benefit to the community. I am hopeful the board appreciates this and approves the proposed additions to ensure that Trixie's can continue to host a diverse array of talented performers when it is again appropriate and responible to do so. -Christopher D-S Moenart and Carpenter
