To the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Elected Officials:

We, the undersigned residents and property owners of Chesaco Avenue and surrounding neighborhoods, respectfully request that Baltimore County install sidewalks along Chesaco Avenue from 1127 Chesaco Avenue to the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Patuxent Avenue.

The Need:

This 0.4-mile stretch serves 74 properties, including 70 residences and 4 businesses. Currently, pedestrians—including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities—are forced to walk in the street or on uneven shoulders, creating unsafe conditions daily.

Safety Concerns:

• No dedicated pedestrian infrastructure exists on either side of the street

• Residents walk in active vehicle lanes to reach transit, schools, and services

• The area lacks ADA-compliant accessibility for wheelchair users and strollers

Community Benefit:

Sidewalks would connect our neighborhood to broader pedestrian networks, support local business foot traffic, improve property values, and demonstrate Baltimore County's commitment to safe, walkable communities.

We respectfully urge Baltimore County to:

1. Conduct a feasibility study for sidewalk installation on this corridor

2. Prioritize this segment for county capital improvement funding

3. Engage with affected property owners throughout the design process

We are prepared to participate in public meetings, provide additional community input, and support this project through all necessary approval stages.

I use to live off of Chesaco. My parents still do. There are always people in the road. Some areas are blind turns or hills that make it unsafe to go around pedestrians.

This would be an incredible help to the community especially with the children & families who gather and wait for the school bus in the mornings, and the businesses near by!

I walk for exercise and it’s very dangerous to do in this part of the neighborhood.

Children and other pedestrians have to walk in the street which is not safe. Also speed bumps are needed on Chesaco near the 800 block.

This is an active community and the families deserve safe access!
