We the undersigned, residents
of properties in close proximity to Buckner Rd., do hereby petition the Cobb
County Commission and Cobb County Department of Transportation to install new
sidewalks and a bike path on all sections of Buckner Rd.
The installation of sidewalks
would significantly increase the safety and quality of life for all communities
on Buckner Rd. Residents could safely
walk to retailers such as Publix and Walgreens located on Veterans Memorial
Hwy. Students and parents could easily
walk to school and events at Whitfield Academy and Lindley 6th Grade
Academy. Sidewalks and a bike path along Buckner would promote community health
via exercise and connect residents with existing county parks and recreation
facilities on Oakdale Rd.
New sidewalks and a bike path
on Buckner Rd. are critical elements of the RiverLine Master Plan, procured by
the Board of Commissioners. The RiverLine plan was completed in 2009 and very
few if any pedestrian road improvements outlined in the plan have been
implemented.
We sincerely request the
Board of Commissioners allocate funds from the proposed 2016 SPLOST or other
county funds for these vital improvements on Buckner Rd. Thanks for your
leadership and service to the county. We look forward to working with you to
improve our community.
Regards,
Julie Holian Carrick &
Keylan Mitchell
