Support existing restricted single sided parking ordinance in Saint Paul, MN.

We, the neighbors of Saint Paul living between Marshall and Summit Avenue and between Dale Street and John Ireland Boulevard, fully support the existing City of Saint Paul parking ordinance which restricts parking to only one side of these streets.
This ordinance was enacted in 1967 as a matter of public safety; it allows for sufficient access for fire trucks in case of an emergency. Similarly, it allows for ease of snow removal in winter and prevents other problems caused by over crowding of our residential streets.
Single side restricted parking on our streets is not only a necessity, but a benefit
for us as neighbors and should be preserved.

The momentum behind this effort has grown substantially and confirms that many residents share a commitment to the safety of our neighborhood. This progress demonstrates that our collective desire to maintain established ordinances is both clear and significant.

Two-sided parking would make snow removal very difficult, as there is already not enough room for the excess snow. It would make parking almost impossible for guests of the local residents; it would make the neighborhood much more congested and noisy, and would greatly increase traffic in what is now a peaceful residential neighborhood.
The proposed parking ordinance change was proposed some ten years ago and found unacceptable. I testified against it and don't find any new argument that would reverse the earlier decision against the change. Commercial businesses wanting more parking in our neighborhood it not a compelling argument. The businesses need to find a solution within their commercial lots and commercial streets.
I live on the extraordinarily narrow Nina Street, where, should there be cars parked on both sides , would barely allow a car to dive in between. I am strongly against such a plan!
Our lovely old streets that make Ramsey Hill an attractive place to visit, do business, and own homes, will no longer be attractive if they cannot be navigated in snowy months or in an emergency. Access and safety can co-exist with one-side parking.
Arundel is a classic example of why 2 side of street parking doesn't work. why is anyone even thinking of 2 side of street parking except if it is for the real estate developer or the restaurant owner?? The financial benefit for a few seems to be put before the residents which count to many many more than the people with a vested financial only interest. We LIV
Please keep parking restrictions to one side of the street for Fire safety and safe driving. With the addition of Red Cow and The Salt Cellar our neighborhood has become dangerous to walk in with everyone driving around looking for parking instead of pedestrians. I have had three close calls in the last two weeks! Please consider building a two story ramp behind La Grolla and do not allow any more restaurants at this end of Selby. Thank you.
i prefer parking as it is. I live at 436 Portland Abe and have never had trouble parking. If Mr Rupp finds trouble parking for his guests at the University clue he should never have bought and planned to open a hotel on Summit that will need even more parking on my residential block...

Parking on the second side of the street is not an attractive solution, especially considering there are virtually empty parking lots near the Selby - Western area, which is the most congested area during dinner hours that our beloved business neighbors are working so hard to address. In addition to the other reasons cited for not allowed parking on both sides, there would be no place to move cars during snow emergencies either.
