Protect parking for Hancock Street residents and our friends and family! Too much traffic and overuse of our residential parking has placed an undue burden on residents. We wish to extend the residential parking permit to include Saturdays on Hancock Street in order to protect parking for residents of Hancock Street and our friends and family who visit us.

– Extending the permit would enhance the ability of residents to re-park on weekends.

– Extending the permit would protect spaces for friends and family of residents because the general public would be limited in their ability to park. We, as residents, would simply need to have on hand the temporary permits from MTA that are available for visitors. They are very straightforward to obtain. Information is here:

– Extending the permit parking restrictions would protect the street from the surges in vehicle traffic, which happens especially on weekends and often involves vehicles traveling illegally at high speeds.

– It would likely reduce foot traffic, littering and human waste on our sidewalks, and reduce the risk of vandalism and crime by decreasing the number of non-resident-related visitors parking on our blocks.

– It would protect Hancock Street from oversize vehicle parking, which often occurs on weekends.
