If the new storage building on Holiday Court off of Walker Drive was any indication of how the mixed use development on Walker Drive will occur, we can expect misinformation and half truths from the developers and the town. The storage building facade was changed eventually by the overwhelming amount of complaints and objections by the townspeople. This shows the power of the people to change the outcome of development in our community! Sign the Petition!!

Please look at the inset on the image to see the development plan for Walker Drive.

Most of us moved to Warrenton to get away from this kind of development. Do you want more traffic, more pollution, more crime, more noise up and down Walker Drive? If not, sign the petition to STOP this project!

Please put down your email address so that the petition has some legitimacy.

The development along Walker Drive must remain industrial in order to preserve the residential neighborhoods that align it. The residents know that Walker Drive is already zoned for building; however, the current businesses operate during the day and are closed at night. The owners of this land want to change the zoning laws which would bring traffic, congestion, noise and possible crime at night to an otherwise quiet and safe neighborhood. This would be a terrible inconvenience to the residents who live here. Bowling alleys, theaters and restaurants belong on business Route 29.

Restaurants, movie theatres, a bowling alley, etc. belong on Rt. 29 Business, NOT in the residential area along Walker Drive. There is plenty of vacant space on Rt. 29 Business for this type of development. Rt. 29 Business can use a lot of revamping anyway as many of the vacant buildings (as well as many that are not vacant) are an absolute eyesore. It's a perfect place for these new business without having to ruin the nice residential neighborhoods along Walker Drive.

This project as explained in the July City Council meeting looks to be a bad bargain for the tax payers of Warrenton. The benefits were not adequately explained. What I heard were hopes and wishes of the developer that have no place in a business plan. The risks in the ptoject seem enoromous.

If I wanted ugly big box development projects I would have moved to Gainesville.

I am strongly opposed to this development. I live off Walker Dr, close to the project and worry about the negative effects. I am so disappointed with the Town Council and my vote in the next election will reflect that.
