Sign this petition to keep Winter Valley subdivision streets private and keep the trees as a buffer behind the houses on Winter Valley Drive.

A zone change has been requested for the 22.8 acre plot of land to the east of Winter Valley Drive, directly behind the houses. Currently, the land is undeveloped and treed. The zone change enables developers to build up to 6 houses per acre, a maximum of 136 houses in this case.

The new development is called Kingston Hills and advertised an expected 47 homes to be built. The new subdivision will connect directly to the existing streets of Winter Valley subdivision via the small outlet at 75 Winter Valley Drive. The new development has advertised tree removal and build plans that back all the way up to existing houses on Winter Valley Dr.

The new subdivision is not part of Winter Valley subdivision and will not pay home owners association fees or abide by HOA bylaws, but they expect to use our streets.

General traffic engineering guides estimate 10 car trips per single-family household per day. That's at least 470 extra car trips on our roads per day that aren't paying for road upkeep or snow removal.

Traffic and speeding on Winter Valley drive is already a problem, adding almost 500 extra cars a day will only add to the problem. Exiting the neighborhood onto Old 141 road may also get harder due to the added traffic.

The number of houses added roughly equates to 10% of the size of Winter Valley subdivision. Why do we want to allow someone to increase traffic and use of our roads, not to mention changing the backyards for existing residents?

Here's a link to the Jefferson County public hearing announcement. (PR117057) It's been rescheduled to 9/14/2017.

They want to use our streets without paying the HOA fees? Absolutely not. Stay out.

This is ridiculous. People already speed through here like it is a highway. Adding more cars is just asking for an accident.

Keep the trees. My kids play in the street and it is already way too busy back here.

136 houses? That is insane for this area. Our roads are falling apart as it is. NO!

Save the buffer. We bought our lots for a reason.

Traffic on 141 is bad enough already at 5pm. This is a terrible idea for everyone living here.
