We the undersigned residents of West Whiteland Township and neighboring counties in Chester County PA, petition the installation of traffic-regulating stop signs on Whitford Road and the intersection of Shoen Rd.
Stop signs at this intersection would regulate traffic, easing the flow from Shoen Road south on to Whitford Rd., increase safety at this intersection, and slow traffic on Whitford Road in order to meet the 25 mph speed limit.
According to public records there have been 16 reported traffic accidents since 2000 at this intersection. As a six-year resident of the Whitford Ridge neighborhood with a backyard facing said intersection, I can attest to many more unreported minor accidents and near misses at this location.
Whitford Road is a state run road and under the authority of PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation). An Offical Manager of West Whiteland Township will be required to submit a formal request for a "Multiway Stop Control At Intersections Engineering and Traffic Study".
The undersigned of this petition are in support of the proposed stop signs and are requesting that West Whiteland Township take the action needed to submit the request for an evaluation to PennDOT District 6.
I have been busy sending emails to township officials to keep our request moving forward. Your willingness to put your names behind this is the only reason they are actually listening to me.

Trying to pull out onto whitford from shoen is a nightmare during rush hour. It is only a matter of time before a bad wreck happens.

Cars fly down whitford all the time. Seen enough accidents there to know we need a stop sign before someone gets killed.

Fix this intersection NOW PennDOT. It is totally unsafe for all of us living nearby.
