Up to 20,000 new homes have been proposed by land-owners at Marks Tey. This is not the right place for a new town the size of Witham:

  • Local roads, trains and services will be overwhelmed. Marks Tey is too far from Colchester for cycling and walking so residents will be reliant on their cars.
  • Nearby villages will be engulfed and farmland and open countryside will be lost forever.
  • There will not be enough jobs and this will become a dormitory town attracting commuters.
Stop Colchester Borough Council and Braintree District Council from taking the lazy option to meet their housing targets. Say no to large scale development at Marks Tey by signing here.

The main routes through my village of Great Tey are already used by domestic and commercial traffic which tries to by pass the overloaded A120. What will it be like with all this development? Not to mention the strain on our existing services.

It is beyond belief that so many houses could be built. The roads can't cope now, the doctors surgeries are full, as are the schools. The trains have reached capacity to London and no more carriages can be put on as the stations are not long enough.

A120 can not cope with this sort of development, just last night driving home to coggeshall from marks they the traffic north bound was queuing from coggeshall to marks they and there were no accidents or hold ups just the sheer volume of traffic

Poorly thought out, no plans for infrastructure, no thought to job creation, no mentions of schools, hospitals, doctors, fire station. No mention of by pass for a120. No mention of rail station improvements. Sadly just a get rich quick scheme for farmers!

we moved here to escape big towns and cities, it's not fair to build on an area like marks Tey. And it really doesn't seem sensible either, it won't work! Roads are already crowded and people are struggling to find jobs. I know that first hand

The infrastructure is just not there to support these extra houses. When all the land is built on where are we going to grow our food, the forecasters are already saying we're in trouble?!!!! Leave our farmland alone & start growing our own produce!!

No A120 bypass, no development. Roads are too busy, paths are too narrow - if the infrastructure is not vastly improved prior to any development, it will lead to serious issues and someone will get seriously hurt or die

Where's all the traffic going on the a120 .we need a new road not new houses.
