Maldon Road Park has been a place for fun and relaxing as far back as 1850, and has changed very little in that time. It is visited by hundreds of families and groups of friends annually, and offers an escape from the hussle and bussle of the town.
The local Government is looking to build 84 houses next to the park. Using the field behind the Cricket Pavillion next to the residential home on Riverview, and also on the land running along the alleyway that connects Riverview with Maldon Road Park.
It is inevitable that future housing projects will have to happen, given the ever growing population. However, to build 84 homes in this area would damage the visual appeal of the park, increase polution and noise, damage the wildlife that dwell there and in the surrounding areas including the River Brain. Not to mention adding extra stress to an already exasperated traffic problem in the town.
Please take a moment to fill in the petition if you agree it should not be given the go ahead. I will be printing hand made petitions as well, and I am hoping to get the local radio to address the issues with it's listeners and help drum up support.

I have been staring at the maps for hours trying to figure out how they expect those construction trucks to even fit down the alleyway near Riverview without ruining everything. It keeps me up at night wondering if anybody at the office actually walked the path along the River Brain or if they just looked at a screen and decided this was empty space.

I never thought we would see this much traction when I first typed this up while staring out at the park. It feels like the whole town is waking up to what we might lose and honestly I am just trying to keep up with the emails now. This momentum is wild so let us just keep pushing until they actually listen.

Ridiculous idea. Maldon rd is already a nightmare to drive on during school runs. 84 houses will make it gridlock 24/7.
Keep the park how it is! We dont need more houses ruining the view and making the traffic even worse than it already is.
Think about the wildlife by the river. You cant just concrete over everything.
So sad to see them trying to build over our green spaces. My kids play there every weekend. Leave it alone!!!!
Used to play in that field as a boy. Its part of the town history. Why do they have to ruin everything for a quick buck
