At HILL HOUSE FARM, COLCHESTER ROAD, WEST BERGHOLT, which is outside the village in the nation speed limit zone between the A12 bridge and The Brewery, the landowner has proposed a new 80 feet wide road junction, adjacent to an existing junction.
So far Essex County Council Highways Department have reccommended approval, despite the visibility towards the village of West Berghholt being only 56 m - the guideline for such road junctions is 320 m.
So do you think it will be SAFE for traffic on Colchester Road?
Ask your self how often do you and your family regularly travel into town along this road?
This is to be considered by Colchester Borough Council Planning Committee on 14 July 2011 - we must raise a significant sign of local concern and objection.
This new junction is huge in scale, not necessary to access the farm land and commercial building on the site as there are already two other points of access on the same stretch of road. Construction of the junction was started illegally without the appropriate consultation and approval of the planning authority and highways authority.
Please sign this petition if you agree to object for any of the following reasons:
1. It creates a road safety risk for the village residents.
2. It destroys the rural approach to the village of West Bergholt.
3. It opens the door for further industrial and commercial development
surrounding the village.
4. Significant land owners should not be treated in a preferential way
to the general tax paying public.
This petition will be presented to Colchester Borough Council to add to the existing objections of West Bergholt Parish Council, our two Local Councilors and village residents.

Ridiculous. We dont need another junction there. It is dangerous enough as it is.
56m visibility is a death trap. Someone is going to get killed here and then they will finally listen.
Crazy. my kids take the bus on this road everyday and it scares me to think what could happen.
WHY ARE THEY IGNORING THE GUIDELINES? 320m is the standard for a reason. stop putting profits before our safety

This road is already bad enough during rush hour. Whoever thought this was a good idea clearly doesn't drive down Colchester road at 8am.
