Do you want a Cell Phone
Tower in front of the Hunt Valley Pool, right next to the road? Probably not, but Hunt Valley Swim Club (7100 Sydenstricker Rd, Springfield, VA)
is considering entering into a long term lease with Verizon Communications to construct an enormous cell phone tower and electronics station right at the front of the
property...next to the road, the pool house, and the property of Community Covenant Church, not to mention directly across from Hunt Valley Elementary! There are three primary reasons to oppose this tower: health, property values, and the residential character and beauty of our neighborhood. For health, the FCC act of 1996 prevents our local zoning commission from looking at health risks when approving placement of cell towers, so we are on our own. For property values, a recent study showed that 94% of the 1,000 respondents said the nearby presence of a cell tower or group of antennas would have a negative impact on their interest in a property or what they would be willing to pay for it. As for community beauty, take a look at some other cell phone towers, and the results speak for themselves. We need to stop this effort now. Please sign this petition. Protect your health, your home, and your neighborhood. Thank you.
I don't understand why another cell tower would be needed when there is already one in place just hundreds of yards away from the proposed location. Agree that it would be a tremendous eye sore and could potentially harm individuals dur to long term exposure.
