Petition Against Cell Tower at 4603 Garth Rd., Charlottesville. VA
We the unsigned residents and taxpayers of Albemarle County, White Hall neighborhood and Charlottesville, VA attest our objection to the proposed cell tower at 4603 Garth Rd.
We strongly believe that the location of a communications tower on said property is too close to its residents. Whether or not obscured by stealth technology, it will have a negative effect on the view and property values of the surrounding residential properties..
We also believe a cell tower in this location does not support the vision outlined in the recent Albemarle Comprehensive Plan:
- It does not "protect natural resources. which include mountains, hills, and valleys, healthy streams”
- It does not “protect rural and historic landscapes that enhance the visitor’s experience;”
- it does not protect the county’s “well-informed citizens who understand the cultural, economic, and ecological aspects of the Rural Area”
We the residents live in this area specifically for the county’s vision and believe a cell tower so close to our homes will negatively impact our quality of life and our property values. One property owner’s gain is not worth a whole neighborhood’s loss.
Therefore, we urge the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County to deny the application for a communications tower by Shentel at this location.
We strongly support the use of alternative locations and alternative technologies that would better serve the needs of all members of our community to provide safe mobile phone coverage without adverse environmental and economic impacts to our citizens and our children.

Rural areas should be left rural. Cell towers should neither be seen nor felt by people or by wildlife, directly or indirectly. Cells towers present a new form of growth, an intrusion that threatens the goals of Albemarle's Comp Plan.
NO WAY!! WE MOVED OUT HERE FOR A REASON AND IT WASN'T TO HAVE A CELL TOWER TOWERING OVER OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
We do not want a cell tower any where near my Mom's (Barbara Poats) house! Rebecca Poats Cogan
This is contrary to everything that the country rural area zoning is in support of and is contrary to my reasons for living here.
I do NOT support this cell tower and am concerned about the lack of citizen input for its approval as it effects surround residents property values with no benefit.

I am neighboring land owner. I don't feel "visibility" has truly been evaluated and as this is the ONLY measure at which the permit is evaluated on, the county should give this complete attention.
