isn't it difficult enough to cover childcare for all the school holidays during the year? On top of that an extra day off because your child's school is used as a polling station. Then another!! Why not use community centres? Church halls? High schools? Sports centres?

I have been hearing from so many of you about the frantic scramble to find childcare on these unexpected days off. It is clear that this disruption creates a massive burden for working families that simply does not need to happen.

April 30, 2017

Seeing this grow makes me feel like I am finally being heard by other parents who are just as exhausted by these sudden closures. It is validation that the scramble to find childcare is a struggle we shouldn't have to face so often.

Inchinnan primary should never be closed for polling , as we have the community centre/ bowling club & Masonic in the doorstep

Rediculous our primary gets shut and right across the road is a community centre!! Surely that's a better place to use than shutting a school for a day! Use your heads !

i think this is completely ridiculous. There are plenty of community centres etc where this could take place. Kids are never in school with the amount of holidays they get. Just because school is off doesnt mean i can get off my work. Makes things more difficult for working parents and less time for education

Parents are getting fined for taking children on holiday, yet it's ok for schools to be shut on polling day. There are plenty empty buildings etc. It's a farce.

Agreed other public facilities should be used in place of schools. For as long as schools are still used, there should be some form of rotation so that the same children and parents are not adversely affected time and again. Given the increased frequency of elections, this is something that should be addressed as soon as possible.

Sports centre or Community centre would be ideal. High schools not so good especially in May when exams are being held

Use community halls or a church, or alternatively swap round different schools so that it's not the same one being used all the time.

Church halls and community centres could be used. Children's education is very important. Disruption of lessons should be minimal.
