This group has been created to gain the support of the local businesses and residents of St Ives to persuade the Town council to reinstate CCTV.
If you believe St Ives should enjoy the protection of CCTV in line with Hayle, Helston, Redruth, Camborne, Truro, Penryn, Penzance, Falmouth, Newquay and St Austell who will all soon be benefiting from CCTV coverage whose councils do not put a price on safety but are willing to pay for this additional security as their duty of care, under section 17 of the crime and disorder act.

As a young woman who works late in the night I would feel a lot safer with cameras around coming from a town where cameras cover all main areas in the town center, it makes all the difference.
A small group of friends were attacked on New Years Eve in full view of a cctv camera, only to be told when he police and ambulance arrived that they either didn't work or had been turned off. We really do need a good cctv system.
Our shop was broken into and thieves never found, also had people stealing and I tried to follow but they got away too.... They all know there is no cctv.. Businesses suffer...
as a local businessman we need cctv crime is on the increase in the town and we don't have enough police with the amount of increase in people during the season and people seem to do what they want st ives is becoming more like Newquay and it needs to be stopped
St Ives is a prime tourist attraction, generating much needed revenue for the council, where visitors, holidaymakers, traders and residents need to feel safeguarded. We must be enhancing the experience (CCTV, keeping loos open, plenty of rubbish bins), not reducing it
We need these, as policing is none existent in our town.
We need cctv as well as residential parking

When these cameras were introduced vehicular vandalism in car parks fell sharply. We are a premier resort and should have the same coverage as other towns.
