Sun Prairie Soccer Complex
We, the undersigned, recognize that the Sun Prairie Soccer Club and the City of Sun Prairie have experienced an increased interest and participation in soccer. These numbers will continue to increase yearly. This demand has caused scheduling difficulties and has produced overuse and abuse of the fields leading to poor field conditions that have negatively impacted games and practices. The increasing numbers of participants could also cause the program to limit participation in the future which is contrary to the mission of the club and sports programs in general. The need for a soccer complex is strong. A soccer complex would positively impact the local economy by regularly bringing in outside families participating in local games and tournaments that would use our local businesses. It would provide relief for our overused and abused fields, give more freedom of field scheduling to soccer and other sports, guarantee participation in soccer for all kids in the future, underscore the Sun Prairie's support for the physical health, diversity, and well being of our children, and promote a positive image of Sun Prairie being a family and child-centered city. We understand that this is no small undertaking. Sun Prairie is a growing community with many new young families with children. A strong education system with a new High School compounded with a strong sports program is indeed an attractive combination for any new family looking to move. We, the undersigned, strongly encourage Mayor Chase, the City of Sun Prairie's City Council, and the City of Madison to review the positive impacts a soccer complex could give to Sun Prairie and our surrounding communities.
