The council finally reached out to confirm that the site clean up is officially happening so I guess we actually pulled this off despite how messy it looked at the start. It is just such a relief to know that corner will look like a real part of town again …
We the undersigned call on Wrexham County Borough Council to use any planning enforcement powers necessary to improve the neglected site on the corner of High Street, Gresford.
It has been abandoned for too long and work needs to take place.
Please encourage others to sign this petition to get this eyesore sorted out.
I was just looking at the total and realized we are almost at two hundred fifty signatures which feels like a real turning point for this eyesore. Can you grab a link and drop it into a neighborhood group chat or just text it to a neighbor because if we hit that goal now it actually gives me something substantial to show the council when I finally get them in a room.

Yes as it's been more than 20 years
since the shop on the site closed and not sure when it was demolished but its got to be 10 years or more.
Definitely an eyesore for such a prime position in the village.

I have approached our existing councillor on this matter and was told there was an enforcement order in place, but nothing has taken place, except a bit of stone walling, which is a new eyesore. Lets get it sorted soon.

I fully agree with the introductory statement.
This land should be used for commercial enterprise in order to improve the village amenities (restaurant / bar etc). It should not be re designated as housing as this would add no value to an increasingly large village.

I wrote to the Wrexham Planning Enforcement Officer Louise Phillips about this village eyesore over a year ago (late 2015), but nothing has changed. Hopefully this petition will achieve a better result.

This 'site' is a terrible first impression for the village. Local businesses are making such an effort to improve the image of the village, it's such a shame their efforts are undermined by this.
