Speeding on upper S. Riverside Drive in Neptune Township has become an urgent problem. Police surveillance is the only effective mechanism to slow down speeders. Upper S. Riverside Drive gets essentially no police radar enforcement and lacks any speed humps yet speeding occurs daily, throughout the day. S. Riverside Drive is the daily route for walkers and joggers with, because of its high density of residential properties, cars regularly entering traffic flow from driveways. This becomes dangerous when traffic exceeds the 25 mph speed limit. This problem is likely to worsen when the East End Avenue bridge closes in October 2017 for repairs.
