Speeding on upper S. Riverside Drive in Neptune Township has become an urgent problem. Police surveillance is the only effective mechanism to slow down speeders. Upper S. Riverside Drive gets essentially no police radar enforcement and lacks any speed humps yet speeding occurs daily, throughout the day. S. Riverside Drive is the daily route for walkers and joggers with, because of its high density of residential properties, cars regularly entering traffic flow from driveways. This becomes dangerous when traffic exceeds the 25 mph speed limit. This problem is likely to worsen when the East End Avenue bridge closes in October 2017 for repairs. If YOU agree that Upper South Riverside Drive requires aggressive speed calming efforts NOW from the Neptune Township Police, sign this petition and forward it to friends and neighbors who use this section of road for recreation and/or travel. The growth of this petition reached the threshold necessary to request a formal meeting with the Township Committee. I am currently finalizing the presentation materials and will request a session on the upcoming public hearing agenda.

Might help if Neptune Police stake out South Riverside over a month or two at unpredictable days/times and issue speeding tickets. Might get folks to think twice about exceeding speed limit.
I just walked S. Riverside with my toddler in a stroller and it was one speeder after another. Very upsetting.
We have been dealing with speeders for a long time. The electronic signs slow them down temporarily - until they pass it. It's not just a car problem. Trucks are just as bad. It is getting to the point where you cannot walk your dog on S Riverside.
We live on this part of S. Riverside and have two small dogs that we walk on this road, as well jog ourselves. The rampant speeding that occurs is harmful. We'd like a speed moderating speed bump/s on this long straightaway that would help alleviate this problem, as nearly all of the cars that do speed are not residents of this stretch of road.
I agree, speeding on S. Riverside Dr, especially the upper section, is a huge concern. I worry about the pedestrians. I have family members (more than one!) who have become victim to human vs car. It's traumatic for all involved. It's avoidable.
I am signing to help reduce the speeding but please no speed humps. I don't speed and they are still a pain to deal with. I feel our town is turning into speed bump heaven.
