Our excessive speed problem has gone on far too long. The 15 and 25 mph speed limits on all our private lake roadways are continuously ignored and members and guests are one speeding vehicle away from a preventable tragedy. A survey was completed on Old Coach by Vernon PD in July 2024 and the data overwhelmingly supported our claim that something needs to be done. Over an 8 day period, speed data showed 4,951 cars passed through and nearly 30% resulted in an "enforceable violation". Pleasant Valley, Old Coach, West Shore and East Shore all need speed control NOW.
Sign this petition and tell Mayor Rossi, Vernon Council, and Vernon PD that you have had enough. With overwhelming support, this petition will be presented to Vernon Council at a regularly scheduled meeting to demand action and accountability.

There are may young kids living on our road who play outside regularly (Butternut Rd) along with many walking dogs, or just taking a walk with babies and kids in strollers and the speed with which cars drive down our road is astonishing.
I live on Old Coach Road and work from home, the amount of vehicles going beyond the speed limit is horrible! I have also had issues with pulling out of my driveway with vehicles turning onto Old Coach from Pleasant Valley and have had them serve around me! I don't feel safe walking on our streets after what I see each and every day first hand!
Yes! We need the speed bumps urgently! The amount of people speeding up and down the roads is extremely dangerous! Other lake communities in town have had them for years, why does our community not deserve the same safety standards?
I support this change. I have been personally chased off the road while walking our dog too many times to count. And 3 cats that I took care of were killed by cars in the last 6 years. We all have cameras in our neighborhood and seeing cars fly by day and night must stop. Let's not wait until someone gets injured or killed.
Something definitely need to be done. The sad part is its not the younger people its people in their 40s and above that definitely should know better are the worst offenders

Speeding is a problem within our community. I think that speed bumps will be more effective and less intrusive than increased police monitoring of speed.
