Buckner Road must have a safe, complete end-to-end sidewalks!

Cobb County residents that live along Buckner road love their community. Many have made the decisions that this is where they will make the single largest financial investment of their lives and where they will raise their children. Buckner road, which runs from Oakdale Drive to Veterans Memorial Highway, is our conduit to Smyrna, Mableton and the greater Atlanta metro area.

The area is beautiful and we love it, but due to the lack of an incomplete sidewalks, our residents and most importantly our elderly and children are in grave danger. Imagine the horror of a vehicular accident involving a child or senior simply because they wanted to walk to the store or get some exercise. The incomplete patchwork of sidewalks coupled with the narrow and winding road creates a very dangerous environment for our otherwise great part of Cobb county.

On behalf of all the residents on Buckner road, we are petitioning the Cobb County Board of Commissioners to immediately beginning the planning and execution of a project that will complete the broken sidewalk structure we are being forced to deal with.

Thank you,

Michael Owens

Updates

July 26, 2017

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners is still ignoring our calls while our families risk their lives on this road every single day. I am tired of waiting for them to acknowledge this obvious danger before someone gets hurt. We are forcing this onto their agenda until they provide the safe passage we deserve.

July 26, 2017

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners can no longer pretend this is just a minor complaint from a few neighbors. This momentum proves that our community is fed up with their neglect and we are ready to force them to fix these streets.

Please complete the sidewalks at the south end of Buckner Rd so families/employees can walk to the amenities in the Providence Pavillion shopping center

I walk each day, whenever possible. I would like to walk outside of my subdivision, but the lack of end-to-end sidewalks coupled with the speeding vehicles make this task almost impossible!

Would feel much safer when o take my kid out in the stroller. Many some fast around the curves and you can't see around some of the turns till you come right up on the people.

Sidewalks are DESPERATELY needed on Buckner. I live 2 minutes from Publix but can't walk there because the road is too dangerous without sidewalks. Thanks for your consideration.

My son lives in Vining Cove. When I go to visit him, I am so afraid that I am going to hit someone with my car.

I agree, there needs to be side walks on Buckner Road. That's a very narrow winding and dangerous road, especially for anyone walking on it. I take Buckner Rd sometimes to get to Veterans Memorial.
