A large corporation based in Arizona called Rural/Metro is trying to take over the ambulance service for the Sewanee area. Why should you care Because it normally takes the students that staff the ambulance less than 5 minutes to get to anyplace on campus. With Rural/Metro, it could take up to 20 minutes because they aren't located on campus, but much further away! Those are minutes you, your friend, or someone else doesn't have to waste when they are in dire need of an ambulance. Rural/Metro is a FOR-Profit service while Franklin EMS and Sewanee EMS are both non-profit. On the 20th of this month the Franklin County Commissioners are making the final decision on which ambulance service should remain. How can you help 1) Sign this petition 2) Sign the petition in the student post office in Sewanee 3) Attend the County Commissioners meeting in Winchester, TN on the 20th of January. Letting Franklin/Grundy EMS remain on the domain with the Sewanee ambulance is vital to campus security and many, many lives are at stake. We must take action now. Thank you for your time. Any questions can be directed to Tyler Cooney, Student Director, Sewanee EMS at tcooney@sewanee.edu or Dennis Jones, Director, Sewanee EMS at dennisjones615@yahoo.com.
