Our goal is to petition the UAW international skilled trades to allow us, who had waited those arduous seventeen years, to reclaim some of our trades seniority. Though we are grateful that the skilled trades committee thought, well enough of us, to negotiate the reinstatement of the apprenticeship program . We think that there are some considerations that may have been overlooked.

Through the many acquisitions, of what was known as the Chrysler Corp., we languished in concessions. Giving of ourselves, both time and money, to provide a more sure footing for our new employers to make a profit. Meanwhile, some of our colleagues (those placed from our test) have accumulated seniority, knowledge and wealth. Moreover, the replacement of those skilled trades positions taken by low seniority employees. Who have not endured for the Union or the company. Though we have been partially made whole, the seniority issue has added injury that, we agree, should be reconsidered.

We are simply asking, in the next contract negotiations, that we would receive one years seniority for every year worked as tradesmen; retroactively:

IE: If an Electricians seniority date is May 2016 and the national contract is ratified December, 2022; that their plant seniority may be redetermined as May of 2010, for the six years that have already transpired. Moreover, this redetermination subsequently should take place every year (upon our seniority date) until the initial seventeen years of our wait be reached.

We are kindly asking this in order to make up for any injuries we may have suffered, due to seniority issues.

We have another issue with seniority. There are many of the same skilled trades members who have been laid off, having 22+ years of production seniority picked up at WTAP. Those same UAW members now have day 1 seniority. I know in the 2015 it was bargained that we keep our seniority only from the last plant worked. Only 1 person went into the trades returned to their original plant. I personally have 22 yrs production and 7 trades, because of the language I have nothing... I was sent to the worst possible area and shift...

Sterling Stamping. My seniority date is a joke considering how long I been here. Fix it.

17 yrs wait was long enough. Getting bumped by new hires who dont know anything is killing morale at the plant.

Jefferson North Assembly. We deserve better than day 1 seniority after all we put in.

We done our time and gave up concessions just to keep the lights on. Give us credit for the years we actually worked.
