Subject: Request for Change to Article 4 - HOURS OF WORK and APPENDIX "D" regarding the "40 Hour Rule" of the previous Collective Agreement that expired March 31, 2026.
We, the undersigned members of General Teamsters, Local Union No. 362, respectfully petition the Teamsters, Local Union No. 362 and Amrize Canada Inc. Calgary Ready Mix Operation to review and amend Article 4 - HOURS OF WORK and APPENDIX "D" regarding the "40 Hour Rule" of the previous Collective Agreement that expired March 31, 2026.
We believe that this change should be reconsidered because; this change was not brought forward at the Proposal Meeting and the offer presented to the members stated that Article 4.2 a) and b) were amended and moved to Appendix “D”. This was easily overlooked by the members. This change will create an unfair hardship and will result in many members seeking employment elsewhere
We respectfully request that the Union and the Company meet and discuss this matter with the goal of reaching a mutually acceptable amendment to the Collective Agreement.
We believe that changing the “40 Hour Rule” back to how it was written in the previous collective agreement would improve fairness, reduce disputes, improve scheduling while maintaining a constructive relationship between the Union and the Company.
By signing below, we are expressing our support for having the Union formally raise this issue with the Company and pursue a discussion regarding the requested change

How is it fair for some members to get 40+ 50+hours while junior members are struggling to get even 15–20 hours a week? Seniority should matter, but available work should also be distributed fairly so every member has a reasonable opportunity to earn a living.
Seniority has associated benefits, as it should. However, there needs to be balance. The 40 hour rule was fair. I was not aware that it changed and I was not in favor of it being changed. It should be changed back to the way it was
It’s selfish to monopolize the hours when there’s so many people depending on this job. 40 hours at our rate should be enough.
Winter work there is enough work for 50 driver. 90 are staying on.

It should never have been taken out. Those responsible are greedy and selfish.

In the Oilfield we ate as a team and struggled as a team. Everything was fair for work. You need everyone at the end of the day unless you want a huge turnaround every year and who always wants to train new drivers if you don’t need to. You want good people to stick around you need to ensure everyone is fed fairly. There was no such thing as seniority in the oilfield or people who get more hours over another based on their position. The 40 hour rule is fair imo.
