Under proposed plans in February 2021, the 262 bus service in Huddersfield is changing into the 261 (operated by Arriva) which will run from Huddersfield to Cleckheaton via Dalton, Kirkheaton and Mirfield.

This means it will now only run hourly Monday to Saturday! On Sundays it will be every 2 hours meaning there will only be 4 buses throughout the whole day!!

The residents who live along this route are opposed to these changes as it results in a reduction in bus frequency and will not provide an adequate enough service.

We demand that these proposals are scrapped and encourage the local transport authority to provide the relevant funding to maintain the current service.

The number of signatures is nearing two hundred fifty as we continue to build momentum for our campaign against the bus service reduction. We must maintain this level of engagement to ensure the transport authority recognizes the depth of our opposition.

This is a very much needed service for our community although it may not be used much at the moment it is obviously because a lot of people are working from home. Why not wait until the pandemic is over and people Return to work and to the shops before making any decisions

I want the changes to be scrapped as I use the 262 a lot as I am a full time student at Kirklees College, I’m in college 3 days a week before lockdown started and I need to be in college before 9am Monday to Wednesday so it is very important that this service stays as it is.

As a on driver with teo young children the bus servixe as it is, is important and necessary to us. We quite often use it to go to Brighouse from Kirkheaton and always mirfield. Would be big blow if service altered and was reduced.

2 hourly is insufficient for the many people who do not drive and have to get to work or go shopping. Especially for older people in Upper Hopton as there are no shops.

My 2 sons use 262 to access college and work . A half hourly service is essential to allow them to continue to get to college and work and links to and from kirkheaton

My sister has a disability and relies on this service for her work and general travel. This reduction in service will impact her greatly, as well as all the other service users in this area.

Really good to see the petition paid off and arriva are making the 261 every half hour to Kirkheaton in September. Well done everybody!

My daughter uses this bus to get to and from college. Cutting this service is going to make things really difficult for her and many others.
