The council finally caved and agreed to fund the zebra crossing for Oxford Lane. It is insulting that it took this much fighting to force them to protect the children of Grove, but we won.

Our village school Grove CE Primary School is off the main road running through the village - Oxford Lane - this is a very busy road which is why we have always had a Lolly pop lady - to ensure our children were safe when crossing the road.

Unfortunately our Lolly Pop Lady is too unwell to continue her role. The local council want £20,000 to paint a zebra crossing on the road and will not provide us a new lolly pop lady.

The whole local community would benefit from a crossing at this location.

There are so many houses being built in Grove the traffic is only going to increase.

If the journey to school was safer more parents would be able to let children walk there on their own saving on the amount of cars being around the school.

Please help us get a crossing in place before something bad happens!!

The local council cannot ignore us any longer with this much momentum building behind our kids safety. We have clearly forced their hand and now they have to stop stalling on this life saving crossing.

This is a very busy road and junction near a double mini-roundabout. At school times the area here has many parked cars, which does not give a clear view of the junction when pedestrians (including our vulnerable children) children are crossing. The parked cars are a distraction to drivers who become frustrated, and therefore not always paying attention to the fact that children are trying to cross!

Please put safety first and provide the children with a crossing. There is only one Zebra crossing in the whole of Grove (nowhere near our school)....yet the roads are getting busier and busier. I don't like my child crossing Oxford Lane alone.

Oftentimes when a driver gives way, someone driving in the opposite direction does not. I have seen several near misses from drivers who are oblivious to this. The safety of children should be put first!

My eldest daughter would be fine walking to school but we won't let her because of that road

I absolutely agree. I live on North drive. And the cars just don't stop, and more often than not speeding past. Me and my boys have personally nearly been had crossing that road. Something needs to be done now!! It's not a If, it's a when! Someone will get hurt. It's only a matter of time...

A crossing needs to be put in place desperately, it will safeguard children going to and returning from school. It will also benefit residents in the area as a whole and also help cut down on the traffic and parking issues around the school if parents are able to drop children off away from the school entrance if they know there is a safe mechanism for children to cross the road

Makes so much sense.

Surely there should be a zebra crossing at all schools for the safety of the children. To many idiots on the roads these days.
