Hash Investments aka Shelor Motor Mile is STILL trying to use 350 Industrial Drive, Christiansburg, Virginia for Porta-Potty & Sewer Truck Storage. The Road frontage for this parcel is also located on Houchins Road, the main entrance into the Walnut Creek subdivision.
We, as residents of Walnut Creek and surrounding areas, are adamantly against this land parcel being used for that purpose. Many factors exist that create concern for us as both a neighborhood and small community. These factors include:
- Threat of pollution to local water sources
- Unpleasant odors emanating throughout the neighborhood
- Creation of commercial traffic to an already highly trafficked area
- Unsightly structures to those residents and guests entering the neighborhood
- Negative impact on local businesses and restaurants
As concerned citizens, and residents, of Montgomery County and Walnut Creek and surrounding areas, we ask that the Town of Christiansburg not allow this lot to be used for the purpose of sewage facility storage and sewer truck storage. The aforementioned factors and concerns present our case as to why this should not be permitted or allowed.

This really "stinks". But in all seriousness, Christiansburg needs to really think about their zoning policies. Sewage storage near upscale housing, restaurants, hotels and gas stations...near a major exit on 81. I can't think of worse way to represent our area.
Since this lot is adjacent to a residential area, it will have an adverse affect on property values. While screening can hide the visual issues, the odor can't be hidden. This area is uphill from out neighborhood and runoff will flow into or neighborhood.
As a mom, a home-owner, and a chemist, I strongly oppose this proposed conditional use permit. The health implications are not good for the residents of Walnut Creek. While the proposed land is industrial, the neighboring property is not, and our property values will suffer. Take the waste elsewhere!
As a REALTOR, I can tell you that this is a BAD idea for Walnut Creek! It is a beautiful subdivision and the sight of portable toilets and sewage trucks will deter some people from wanting to purchase a home in the subdivision. Bad idea!!!
The stream that runs through the properties ends up on a farm with cattle and other livestock. This could harm the cattle. I know this is a commercial zoned area, but it is bad for the residents and could not be in a worse place.
This will be a reason enough to sell my home! It will decrease home values of our neighborhood! This should NOT be placed next to a residual area.

We chose this neighborhood to buy our first house because of the beautiful views of the mountains. This neighborhood is one of the nicest Christiansburg has and provides an accessible place for those commuting to Blacksburg and also the Roanoke Valley. To devalue this neighborhood would hurt not only the surrounding homes and businesses but Christiansburg itself.
