WHEREAS Mr. Bernard Garrett has requested a special use zoning variance and a hardship variance for his property at 1441 Dials Mill Rd for operation of an Open Air Waste Processing and Recovery Facility and; WHEREAS the proposed open air waste management facility for mixed garbage will irreparably damage the property values and quality of life of numerous residents and commercial developers in the area and; WHEREAS the proposed waste management facility is contrary to the Oconee County Future Development Plan for the area and; WHEREAS the proposed facility would constitute an industrial development in the midst of agricultural and residential properties and; WHEREAS Dials Mill Road is a minor collector and a “No-Through-Trucks” corridor, and the facility being proposed is required to be located on a street designated as an Arterial or Major Collector; We, the undersigned residents of Oconee County, call for the Board of Commissioners to DENY Mr. Bernard Garrett’s request for a Special Use Consideration, pursuant to the Oconee County Unified Development Code and as urged by the Oconee County Planning Staff.
