The impact of the removal of the Flat Rock Dam in Michigan would be devastating to the wildlife, those who reside adjacent to it, the downriver communities, the Huron River, the wetlands and quality of life. The removal would cause water levels to drop thereby decreasing property values. Please help us save the beloved Flat Rock Dam.

The increase in support has provided the necessary leverage to finalize a formal request for an independent environmental impact study. Legal counsel is now reviewing the language for a letter to be delivered to the board of commissioners this week.

Been fishing the Huron for years, we do not have a lamprey problem.. I have never even seen one there, I however HAVE seen some of the largest smallmouth bass in a river in the state of Michigan in flat rock, we need to protect these bass and all other species that call the Huron river a home. Save the dam!
The dam was built in 1921 by Ford to improve the water and to provide power for the plant. There is a historical marker. Why can't it be used for renewable energy for the citizens of flatrock?
Destroying the dam will destroy Eagle breeding grounds, thousands of peoples homes, a historic cemetery, a very large modern cemetery, and it will take away the place I go to remember my late father. Stop the madness and just fix it!
I live on the river in new boston, i think the people that want to get rid of the dam aren’t considering the people that live with the river everyday and how it’ll affect them. It’s been there for 100 years they would be destroying a developed ecosystem just to appease the water shed council
I do not agree with the removal of the dam and the destruction to the ecosystem that lives there. The park and the water brings joy to my special needs child and is part of our community.

The dam is the biggest the biggest spawning area for steelhead in lower Michigan. It also should be a historical landmark. It was Henry Fords project.Hopefully this isn’t just another maintenance neglect by the parks department like the dam at willow metro park
