Please tell Annapolis City Hall that independent restaurants and small business are the lifeblood of our town. While Congress is helping big business. Here's how to help Main Street.
When restaurants are allowed to reopen we expect social distancing will require us to remove at least 50% of seating. If bar service is impacted that could mean another 25%. Operating an independent restaurant on 25% revenue will not allow us to rehire all our staff or pay all the bills.
Creative Solution: Open Main Street to table service. More tables six feet apart will allow more guests and more opportunity to succeed. Until restaurants can operate at 100% capacity ... every night is Dining Under the Stars.
Strong, creative, out of the box leadership is what's needed in this unparalleled crisis for independent restaurants. Your signature on this petition tells the City leadership bold action for our "new normal" is necessary to weather this longterm economic storm.

My family restaurant is struggling to keep the lights on and this petition is our best chance at getting outdoor seating approved. We need just a few more names to hit our first goal and get the attention of local leaders. Please send this link to your neighbors so we can show City Hall how many people care about Main Street.

This would be amazing and is a great idea. The streets would be open during the morning so delivery trucks can come through and for evening hours closed off.
My wife and I own Preserve. We have been on the top 100 restaurants in the Washingtonian and the top 50 Baltimore magazine the past 5 years. Restaurants like ours shutter if we do not get creative with what the fallout of Covid-19. The outdoor seating would bring a vibrancy and much needed life jacket to businesses on Main Street.
This concept should not only be implemented for this short-term condition but seriously considered to return Annapolis to it’s 18th & 19th century “roots”. An excellent model is Newbury, Berkshire, UK near HIghclere/Downton Abbey. Strongly support this idea.
Great idea! If the whole street cannot be closed off eliminate parking on one or both sides and make a one lane Main St. with barriers to protect those dining out. You could also offer valet parking so other merchants on Main St. would not be negatively impacted from limited/no parking.
We only plan to eat at restaurants with large outdoor seating areas when restaurants can open. This would certainly meet our criteria for us to return to our favorite places.

This would be amazing! East bound traffic would be impacted, but it would be worth it. Austin TX shuts down 6th st traffic during normal times. Come on Annapolis!!!!!
