The council will remove outdoor dining and reinstate the very small number of parking spots they currently occupy, 18 on street parking spaces. These spaces offer approx 150 dining spaces, that can be turned over multiple times per day (weather permitting). That is hundreds of diners sat for 60-90 minutes or more just a few feet away from retail stores, window displays and shopping opportunities.
Outdoor dining has been a huge success for Ridgewood setting it apart from other CBDs and bringing vital revenues and opportunities into Ridgewood.
There appears to be zero rationale or business case for making this decision and it should not be left in the hands of just the village council to arbitrarily decide on a matter that have ramifications across our community. At a time the CBD already have multiple empty units, our restaurants with outdoor dining are what attracts residents and visitors, generating significant income and opportunities.
We must save our outdoor dining and continue to invest in our CBD, not take a huge step backwards.

Seeing one hundred people come together to protect our local restaurants is deeply moving. Walking past those empty storefronts reminds me why we need to keep these dining spaces alive for our community.

Watching this signature count climb toward one hundred shows how much our community values these vibrant spaces. Please take a moment to post this link on your social media so we can reach that milestone and show the council exactly how many of us want to keep our dining corrals open.

My family and I are looking forward to having nicer weather so we can dine outside. We have two young children and are not comfortable eating inside a restaurant yet. Limiting outside dining options means we just won't be going out to eat, hurting our local businesses
Outdoor dining was not created during Covid. All over Europe it has been a part of the culture for centuries. Look at Paris cafés, restaurants with outdoors terraces. Let’s not remove them they make us an unique village and makes for a great dining experience.
Outdoor dining in Ridgewood has been one of the ONLY good things that have come out of our Covid crisis. losing this small amount of parking spaces seems irrelevant given the benefit to our town's restaurants. Not to mention the fact we just paid for a large parking garage.
It is the outdoor dining that brings us to Ridgewood restaurants but often we find ourselves in neighboring retail stores. Getting rid of outdoor dining will be felt beyond restaurants but in commerce overall in Ridgewood. I urge you to keep the outdoor dining option.
The outdoor dining and the outdoor MUSIC were the clinching factors that made me decide to move to Ridgewood during the pandemic! They add so much character and life to this community; please, let's work together to support them.
KEEP this alive!!!!

I am a business owner of two retail locations in Ridgewood. When the restaurants do well, we do well. Taking away the open dining corrals is a mistake - a really obvious one. It drives more traffic to Ridgewood and gives a great ambiance/ visitor experience.
