Join us in fighting the proposed development of new housing by Barratt Homes on the precious slice of Green Belt between the east side of the Drumpellier Lawns estate and the Drumpellier Golf Course. The field is a well used, well loved area of recreation. This build would increase the volume of traffic coming off the roundabout and a few years of disruption while the build is taking place. Due to the loss of Green Belt in neighbouring areas, people already travel here for recreational purposes. There are not enough easily accessible, safe areas for children to play, learn and just 'mess about.' Did you climb trees?, Build a DEN ? Pitch a tent ?, Kick a ball about with no one shouting at you to move on? What about walking your dog somewhere you can throw a ball and let them RUN ? If you appreciate the trees and the free roaming deer that lift your spirits and adds that little bit of peace you just won't get from looking at HOUSES...sign the petition NOW and have your voice HEARD.

I spent this morning walking the edge of the field and watching the deer among the trees, which only serves as a reminder of how much we stand to lose if this development moves forward. My inbox is filling up with your personal stories about growing up in these spaces, and every single note reminds me why I started this fight in the first place.

Seeing so many of you rally behind this field reminds me of the afternoons I spent watching my own kids build dens under those trees. This momentum proves that our community values these green spaces far more than another concrete development.

If anybody is in any doubt about signing this petition just take yourself for a little walk early in the morning and see the amount of wildlife who live in and around this field. Deer,Rabbits and foxes to name but a few. Please sign and encourage others to sign. Thank you

The thing wrong with the world today is that kids can't go out and play in a field and use there imagination to create their own world, a world full of adventures and creative minds, a place that is safe and away from tec. Kids need this and communities need this. Good luck you have my support x

I have lived beside these fields all my life and at 34 years old I still watch the wildlife that live there in amazement. For a rural village there is not much greenery left. Please don't destroy it.

There is enough space in the centre of Coatbridge and around Bargeddie to build on without taking more green belt land from the perimeter of the town. Presumably this proposal is to fill the land owners pocket only as this development brings no benefit to the local area.

I understand the need for affordable local housing and the mandate to support government initiatives but there are plenty of brown field site that need regeneration rather than agricultural farm land and community spaces. Please look elsewhere.

I regularly see deer in this field. It is used by families as a safe place to play. It is regularly used by dog walkers. I am very concerned by the amount of traffic that this new estate would bring into Oakridge Road.

All nature is important . Many of these house builders have planning permission else where but are holding on to it . Brown field sites should be built on first .

This is a beautiful park and the playground with its location and space is a precious jewel. Why would you commercialize it and increase traffic congestion? Have you been here to experience the rightness and value of this area along with all the other variables?
