This is the official Save Standish petition to stop houses being built on Standish's open green spaces.
We, the undersign, are outraged by the new proposals by the Government's planning inspector to allow the Council to build 1000 new homes on Open Green Spaces in Standish. We, the undersign, believe that the extra traffic will bring Standish to a standstill and there is no real prospects to deal with this issue. We also believe that the landscape on the three sites being looked at are of great value and interest to the local residents. With these matters, and others, we support the Save Standish campaign to keep the three sites in Standish free from houses at this time.

Standish is built up enough there is already nowhere to park and it is a nightmare to drive through the main street at rush hour so more houses would mean more cars means more pollution and congestion on the already overcrowded roads
I'm astounded that Wigan council are proposing to build so many more houses in what is a currently a cramped area with poor infrastructure, limited school places and not enough services. Leave Standish alone!
I don't live in Standish but my daughter and grandchildren do ... it is for their sake and their future that I am signing this petition - stop destroying the environment and start preserving green and open spaces for the good of us all.
Standish is a village not a town, we just can't handle this amount of housing- schools, doctors, roads you name it. Only last week my 81 year old mother had to stand in the NEW doctors due to the number of patients. STANDISH IS FULL
we do not want any more houses in Standish. We would lose all the wildlife in these open spaces. We have foxes, Canada geese, ducks and moorhens as well frogs. Lots of birds too numerous to mention. All would go never to return if these plans go ahead.
Its a disgrace to build on this land, were are the deer, newts, bats and birds of pray going to go aren't there enough houses already?
Can't believe they are building more houses with no real plans to improve the infrastructure. People will start leaving the area which will lead to an array of empty properties. It will drive down the housing prices and just add to the congestion issues we already have in the village. I have lived here all my life and this is making me consider moving out the area.

I have lived in Standish for all of my 52 years and have seen the over development of this once lovely village. The next developments are the last straw and we are seriously considering moving away. Enough is more than enough.
