Maldon District Council are trying to close this small confectionery stall after allowing it to be open for the last 18 months. After receiving 1 "complaint" (of which they won't disclose any information to the stall owner), they have now decided that it needs planning permission. Bridget, the stall owner, has asked what she needs to do to get the permission but the Council are not forthcoming. They have remarked in the correspondence with Bridget that the stall is not in keeping with the local area, this I feel is wrong, and from the support that we have revived on social media I am not alone. We are asking the residents and visitors of Maldon that use, and like to see this stall to stand together and help Bridget to keep her livelihood. Bridget has all of the health and hygiene certificates she needs and has a 5 star rating. Please don't let the town council who give permission to endless amounts of supermarkets (or so it seems), to remove this stall that the local community have come to love as a part of the fabric of the area.

The Council is still stonewalling Bridget regarding the permit, but they cannot ignore the growing public pressure. Email the local planning department today to demand they stop stalling and give her a straight answer. Post a photo of yourself at the stall on Facebook to show them this business is vital to our community.

What is wrong with our council,,what harm is there for someone willing to make a living instead of claming benefits,it;s nice to see someone making an effort,,she is not interfering with the council property,so whats the problem,,is it the council not making money out of it.
Whenever I walk past this stall I always think how lovely and traditional it is. Surely 1 complaint can't be enough to warrant its closure- especially when the council won't even advise what the complaint was about!
I met this lovely lady last year when I had to read her water meter for Essex and Suffolk water that's when I saw the stall and I think it's great and would be a shame to be forced to shut down over on complaint what harm is the stall doing???
Far from detracting from the look of the area Bridget's stall is creating a better community feel on Fambridge Road. I never go past without seeing people stop for a chat with each other. This is what community is all about.
The stall is quaint , quirky and unique. Maldon needs more of these ' unique ' enterprises in order to bring back some of the charm that our lovely town has lost over the years . What possible harm is it doing ? , situation is MCC at its most ludicrous .
Maldon council is a joke, they do nothing but ruin our town first the swimming lake, then let the big supermarkets ruin the highstreet now a lady wants to try and bring something different to the town and they shoot her down. Hey maybe if she had enough money like tesco they would see things differently.
Lovely stall and I can't see how anybody could complain about it. Hope it doesn't get shut down.

This is one of few last remaining oddities of Maldon that make it a vibrant and different place to live. The council should be supporting local people like this rather than opposing them whilst making it easier for big business to move in and remove any unique identity from Maldon.
